So I just tested Ambrosia Software’s new iToner application. This is a Mac app that lets you easily, very easily, add any sound to your iPhone’s list of ringtones. No hacks are involved. Just run iToner, plug in your iPhone and then drag-and-drop. And it worked! It is $15, but comes with a free trial period.
So I bought a $28 Colby MP3 player for my 5-year-old daughter. Basically a iPod Shuffle rip-off. Nice little device. Like the iPhone, it has a special headphone jack — a super mini as opposed to the iPhone’s normal-with-restricted-space. But the result is the same: you can’t plug in normal headphones, only the earbuds that come with it.
But the difference is that Colby threw in an adapter for free. So a $28 MP3 player comes with an adapter, but the $500-$600 iPhone doesn’t! This continues to piss me off. Sorry to bring it up again.
