Headphone Adapters
I just saw a second third-party headphone adapter for $10. The reason these $10 things exist is that the headphone jack on the iPhone, for some strange reason, is too small for standard headphone jacks. So you are stuck with the earbuds that come with the iPhone, and can’t use anything better, or jack into your car without a dock.
I hate that such a simple adapter is $10. So I made my own, my modifying something that costs only $2. I did a video on it for MacMost. Here’s an iPhone version of that video.

I have always put it to the fact of the mic ring on the headphone jack. I saw Shure had a similar solution with a mic and iPod controls on the extension.
