We All Get $100!
A lot of people were upset that iPhones are now $200 less. Not me. I figured that was just business. It’s not the first time I bought a piece of consumer electronics only to ee a huge price drop just a few months later. Happened to me last year with a Sony TV.
But now Steve Jobs has stated that we will all get $100 back. Glad I still have my receipt.
What do you think about the situation? Was the $200 price drop too much? Is the $100 rebate too little?

The way I see it, I paid an extra $200 to be one of the first. For a few months, I was one of the “elite” with the coolest gadget on the planet. Now that the price has dropped, there will be a lot more of us, but I paid to get there first.
When I heard about the price drop, I smiled and shrugged my shoulders and said “well, that was sooner than expected.” if someone had told me that I could save $200 by getting it two months later, I probably still would have gotten it.
Getting a $100 store credit from Apple? That’s just a nice thank-you gift from them, rewarding me for helping make the iPhone a success.

Frankly, I’m quite surprised that the stock went down after the price drop. To me this was brilliant marketing by Apple. You build up the buzz for five months, create a pent up demand, and then release priced at whatever the market will bear. Sales slow down or supply catches up with demand and you drop the price.

In late breaking news, everyone who bought an Apple Lisa will get $7000 Credit at the Apple store.
